The father is society and laws, making decisions based on facts no feelings

Reversed: Immaturity, inability to make harsh decisions and carry them through

This is the card of the rules of society. When we consider how many cultures developed, it was the role of the female or the empress to have the love and compassion for the family and the male or the Emperor would be the one who made the rules and carried out the discipline. While gender roles have changed and lost their significance over time the meaning behind these cards still stands. It doesn’t matter what gender the card is representing, it still holds the meaning of being the “disciplined” one who uses logic and law to make decisions rather than feelings or passion.

The goal of the Emperor is that a stable and just society will allow its members to pursue their personal needs and development.

When the Emperor appears it often reflects the nature of the person as being a good leader.
