The Chariot

Simple: The Chariot is a card of willpower and determination, urging you to take control, stay focused, and move forward with confidence toward your goals despite any opposing forces. 

Reversed: Lack of direction, lack of control, arrogance, carelessness

The Chariot is a card of movement, progress and action. When this card appears it is telling you to take action and move forward. Even if you are facing opposing forces or views, you have the ability to take control of the situation and steer it in the right direction. 

The traditional image in this card is of a chariot drawn by two sphinxes. These animals are opposite in every way, looking in opposite directions, one black and one white. They represent two opposing forces, that need to be harnessed and controlled in order for the chariot to move forward in the correct direction. If the driver of a chariot lets go of the reins, the chariot would likely steer off course. What is interesting in the Rider Waite deck is that there are no reins, the figure driving the chariot controls the animals through sheer force of will, showing extreme determination to achieve their goal.

This card is about strong willpower and your instinctive desire to follow the path you have chosen. Life is constantly granting us opportunities, but if we don’t get in the chariot and steer that opportunity in the right direction, it will never come to fruition. Now is the time to take the reins, put your worries aside and focus. If you are determined and continue moving forward you will be successful. You can likely achieve your goal through character and charisma, you have the ability to charm others and get their cooperation. 

If you feel pulled in two directions know that you can coax them both to the same target. Pay attention to your path as you come forward, to stay focused on the destination.

The universe constantly gifts us the opportunity to become who we want, but sometimes we don't get on the chariot, we remain inactive, and allow the chance to pass.
